LET’S RUN LIKE A CHEETAH

CHEETAH PROGRAM

Cheetah Groups

Cheetah Warm Up

Cheetah Groups

In each session, there will be 6-15 children working with a cheetah guide.  This will allow the needs of each child to be met. Our cheetah guides love working with kids and believe in the powerful impact of exercise on children.

Setting a Goal

Cheetah Warm Up

Cheetah Groups

The children will set a goal for the session.  Goals are great motivators and gives the children a purpose for their running activity.  When children set a goal, this helps them focus and it increases their confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Cheetah Run and Games

Children will stretch their arms, legs, and bodies.  Stretching out before running is beneficial for your muscles.  Stretching helps prepare the muscles to engage and improves their flexibility. Stretching gets your body ready to run.

After stretching, the children are ready to run.  The children will learn the basics of running and building stamina through a variety of running activities.  A variety of activities will keep the children engaged while focusing on their goal.

Cheetah Cool Down

Cheetah Cool Down

After the running activity, the children will stretch and cool down.  Stretching will prevent the muscles from getting sore and it relaxes the muscles.  During the stretching, the children will reflect on how they did during the session.

CHEETAH GUIDES

Background Checks

Our cheetah guides have been screened for a background check and fingerprints. The background check allows us to see a person's criminal record, education, and past employment.  This reassures us that the children are in safe hands during the Cheetah Program.

Mandated Reporter Training

Our cheetah guides  have completed DCFS Mandated Reporter Training and are mandated reporters. They are trained to report any observed or suspected abuse.  This ensures safety for the children and prevents abuse.

Cheetah Training

Our cheetah guides have completed a research based curriculum training that aligns with the Illinois State Physical Education Goals and Social Emotional Learning Standards for Illinois. They are skilled in mindfulness and behavior management as a positive approach to learning.

Qualifications

Our cheetah guides have an Education degree and/or experience in working with children. They believe in the importance of exercise to benefit the well-being of a child. They are trained in mindfulness and de-escalation techniques that nurture the whole child.   They enjoy working with children and are committed to providing a positive learning experience.

Work Ethic

Our cheetah guides are professional and prompt. They are prepared to provide the children with a positive and rewarding learning experience. They are motivated and committed to improving  the mental, physical, and emotional health of children.  They are invested in the future of all children.
